Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

By using the Site, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly.

Author registration. When you create an author account, we collect your name, email address, password, location (city and country), a short biography, and an optional profile photo.

Bookfair listings. When you submit a bookfair, we collect the details you provide, such as the bookfair name, type, location, dates, times, description, and a cover image.

Title listings. When you add a book or title, we collect information such as the title, description, genre, publication details, and a book cover image.

Communications. If you contact us by email or through a contact form, we keep a record of that correspondence.

Purchases (coming soon). When our online store launches, we will collect billing details, shipping addresses, and order information needed to process purchases. Payment card details are processed by our payment providers and are never stored on our servers.

Information collected automatically

When you visit the Site, we and our hosting provider automatically collect standard technical data, including your IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, and the date and time of your visit. This is collected through server logs and cookies (see Section 6).

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and manage your author account and profile
  • Publish and display your bookfair and title listings on the Site
  • Provide your personal dashboard, where you can view and edit your own entries
  • Respond to your questions and support requests
  • Process orders and payments once the store is available
  • Maintain the security of the Site and prevent spam or abuse
  • Improve the Site’s content, design, and performance
  • Comply with legal obligations

 

We do not sell your personal information.

3. What Is Publicly Visible

Book Fairs Connect is a directory-style platform. Content you submit for publication — including your author name, biography, profile photo, bookfair listings, and title listings — may be displayed publicly on the Site so that visitors can discover authors, books, and events. Your email address is displayed on your public profile only if you choose to include it. Your account password is never visible to anyone.

Please do not include personal information in public listings that you do not want to be publicly accessible.

4. How We Share Information

We share personal information only in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers. We use third-party providers to operate the Site, form processing, email delivery, and — once the store launches — payment processing. These providers may process your data only to provide services to us.
  • Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to a valid legal request.
  • Business transfers. If Book Fairs Connect is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

5. Data Retention

We keep your account information and submitted listings for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account or ask us to remove your data, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal, accounting, or security purposes. Server backups may persist for a limited additional period before being cycled out.

6. Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to:

  • Keep you logged in to your account
  • Remember your preferences
  • Understand how visitors use the Site so we can improve it

 

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect features that require you to be logged in, such as your dashboard.

7. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls, and secure file handling for uploaded images. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be announced on the Site. Your continued use of the Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
